First I would like to thank all of you who are sending in citizen opinions be they pro or con.  It is good that there is an interest in what is happening in RR County, and discussion is needed openly about these happenings.  This is what America is all about.

Ann,

First of all, I did not vote for Joseph Hausler.  In the beginning none of us did.  If you remember he was appointed.  This is the problem.  Elmer Caton seems to be honest, but I have seen him sit on his hands on some issues that make me suspicious.  If I am not wrong, Elmer was appointed in the beginning.   The Late County Judge Powell Peek was appointed  at first.   The lady before him was appointed.  Our new County Judge will be appointed.   This makes the majority on the Commissioners Court appointed.  Sheriff Conway was first appointed  Sheriff Reed was first appointed.   I was just told that The county clerk Lorie Moose was first appointed, and Janice Gentry the District Clerk was appointed

Are any of you beginning to see the problem with the appointed Just-us  system in RR County?

I am considered an outsider poking his nose into this county's business by some, because I was not raised here.  My answer to that is I live here NOW, and I pay taxes here NOW.  It is my business how my vote is counted, and my tax dollars spent.

The electoral process was set up by our founding fathers so that the everyday people who are the backbone of our nation have an equal voice in the process.  It works in Dallas County where I was born and raised.  It works in Lubbock County where I lived for 20 years.  I cannot remember anyone being appointed (which I am sure that there was 1 somewhere along the way) that was on the Commissioners Court, or Sheriff's Department.  I guess it could have happened if they were indicted, died, etc.   Although I cannot remember anyone being appointed, which is the way it should be.  Officials should be elected!!  Ours are appointed!

The point being nearly everyone is appointed  to office in RR County before they are elected.  This keeps the powers that be in the advantage, and I am sorry, if you can't recognize that. This is the reason that they do it!  I am also a little worried about people who don't realize what is happening!

I am paying taxes so that I have the benefits of County Government Services, although I am still wondering just what services I am getting, and where my tax dollars are going!  I am definitely not paying Joseph Hausler, or Elmer Caton or David Barnett or Rufus Ward to decide who I want them to appoint for the County Judges position.  I have taken the time to register to vote, and carry my card for that.   If people think that we are paying for them to appoint replacements for what should be elected positions,  they need to take another look at the way government is supposed to operate.

I exercise my right to vote.  I always have.  I believe in electing officials rather than them being first appointed.  I have been exercising my voting rights for 36 years, and I may be wrong in my opinion, but I would rather have someone tell me I told you so, because of my choice of how I voted in an election rather than me sitting on my hands letting some first appointed official tell me who my vote is going to count for.  E Pluribus Unum.... not the other way around!

P.S.  I don't trust any politician especially appointed ones, because it is my job as a citizen to oversee them by excercising my right to vote, and not their job to circumvent the electoral process by appointment. Look at the shape our federal government is in right now because the minority of the people trusted them, although the majority didn't in the last election.  And.....  A lot of people are are afraid of the Just-us Appointed System of Government we have in this county, and they should be!  Also.....  I enjoy this website thoroughly, and enjoy it even more when people like you participate.

Thank You, Respectfully.
