Mr. Henslee,
I also have been doing a lot of observing
as some others have, and really the truth of the matter is if the people
of Red River County would go to commissioners court meetings as Mr.
Elmer Caton asked all to do the day Mr. Harville was appointed County
Judge and speak out, then perhaps the citizens would realize where the
county's money is and how much is being spent that could be better
managed. I feel each commissioner knows how much they are budgeted
for and whether it includes cell phones, gas for personal use,
etc. From what I have observed there are several things that could be
changed to help reduce the county's cost considerably from gas to utility
bills. The back door at the courthouse annex could be fixed to hold
the warm heat inside in the winter and cold air in the summer, and
thermostats locked on certain degrees and left alone .
As for Mr. Hausler, I really don't
see where he finds time to do much of anything as much as I see him in the
Courthouse Annex. One would think he works there rather
than out doing what needs to be done ?
As you have said unless people are willing
to give of their time to attend these meetings then what else do they
expect? I know a lot of people
have mentioned to me that they don't like to have to be on the agenda to
be able to speak on a matter, and really all I can say to that is if you
can't stand before your representatives and speak then why talk about it
elsewhere? Talk is cheap! And making people put things on the
agenda may be the the one thing that is truly done in order ?
I remember a statement Mr. Rufus Ward made of
the reason R. R. County needs the New Lake was for a tax base, what have
they been using for a tax base till now ? It just don't make sense to buy
water from our local stores and it's bottled in Ft, Worth Tx. Will we be
buying our water back ? He too uses county gas probably more than he
should , expenses could be shortened a lot if all would be made to
do so .
You know when I attended city council
meetings I as others saw first hand how our city was then run and the same
thing happened there, people got to where they would not attend and
support their councilman because it seemed decisions had already been made
before the meetings , and I can't say for sure as of today whether the
city forgives or exempts industries from tax or not , but I did hear some
people saying if people wanted to know why our taxes were so high look who
all gets exempts. I am for any industry to come into our
county and help provide jobs for people , but when we have been on the
poverty level as long as our county has been and exempts for this one and
that one. Where does that
leave the ones that try so desperately to pay their taxes and
keep their children in school? { PAYING OTHERS TAXES } MONEY HAS TO
COME FROM SOMEWHERE }
When one really looks at our situation as to
how much taxes each one pays makes you wonder why our governing officials
have let it come to this ?
The question I would like an answer to, Has it been out of greed, power,
pure stupidity?
I will say I truly hope the new appointed
county Judge will be his own person and do what is best for our county by
taking a firm stand and knowing what is right and what is wrong and do
what is right without any favoritisms for the betterment of
our county and the hard working people of the county .

Citizen Opinion E-Mail On Precinct 4, Commissioner Joseph (Bobble Head)
Hausler |
|
2/17/2007 I've been doing a lot of observing lately and wanted the good
people of this county to know a few things:
First of all the people in Precinct 1 have a wonderful commissioner.
Rufus Ward is the best person
for that job. Sure there has been some controversy in the past, but it's not
exactly as people have been hearing. He is not a crook by no means. This is
a situation that has been blown out of proportion. I have to admit there are
a few things that I do not agree with Mr Ward on. One being his favoring the
Marvin Nichols Lake.
This situations with Mr Ward all came about when Commissioner Joseph
Hausler went to the then Judge Powell Peek. Then He and the Judge went to
Val Varley. Now I'm not a rocket scientiest or someone that is in the
"Click" but I don't understand why Joseph Hausler did this. At the time this
all came about Joseph Hausler was going to school on county time to get his
surveyors license. He was also working for Royce Hammett Surveying on county
time, and helpling people with their title work and helping the Appraisal
District research deeds. During this time he was hardly ever doing "county"
business. Only his business for personal gain.
Now my questions are:
Doesn't he know that everyone knows that he was the one that instigated
this whole situation?Has he not been Abusing his Official Capacity? According to the Texas Association of Counties a commissioners duties do
not include any of the above. I can understand if you were doing this
for the County's gain and not yours. I know that Hausler monitors this site
regularly, and I hope he enjoys reading about all the good that he has done
and is doing for Red River County. We all know that he will be running the
county until Mr Harville gets a belly-full, and sets him straight.
I encourage all the tax payers and active voters of Precinct 4 to open
your eyes and get a good look at what you have put in a place to take care
of your money. Looks like he has spent it very well this past couple of
years. Name withheld by request.

i really don't know the other commissioners, but i think Elmer Caton
is an honest guy. He will make his choice according to who he thinks is
best. We can all guess and say i told you so it we are not Right. They have
to make a choice who they think is best. That is what we elect them for
because we think they can do the job. Have a little confidence in the
people we elect.
As far as having your name withheld. There is nothing any one can do
if you write a letter voicing your opinion on this sight. That is what it is
far. If you don't want people to know how you feel , then don't sign your

Enjoy your web sight.

I, for one, think you are right on the money in predicting who will be
appointed County Judge.
I don't know who the man is who put in an application in Bogata. don't think the Commissioners will appoint Mark Perkins because by
appointing him, it would be too obvious and too many people read your
website to be blindsided by a maneuver like that.
I will lay down money -- they will only go through the motions when it comes
to Royce Abbott's application. I'm sure they know that he would shake the
dirt out of the rug if he were appointed. (and if he is not appointed it
will be apparent to the public and your large following of readers why) I
don't know Royce Abbott, but I do know people who know him and I think that
he would be fair and honest, exactly what this county needs).
I know Mark Whitehouse and I know how he operates. Mark Whitehouse is an
honest man and I would lay down money, if appointed, he would run that
office with some good ole fashioned integrity. I believe he would resign
before he compromised his values (So, if Mark Whitehouse ever resigns the
post, we will know why)
People who never paid attention to local politics are paying attention now.
Personally, I wouldn't want to be in politics. It has been my observation
whether it be big business or politics--------Everybody needs a fall guy.

I agree with Patsy Guinn. Perhaps what we need to do is Pray. Everything
will come out in the wash…..in God’s time. The guilty parties will come to
light when the time is right.
My mother also had a saying, "I would rather be punished by man than by
God". Someone took Al Peek from his loved ones, someone took Jennifer Bench
from her loved ones and God knows who they are.
Like Ernest said, in his editorial, they walk among us……..go to church with
us and go about their daily lives just like anyone else. I wonder, do they
ever feel guilty for what they’ve done? When they look in the mirror…..do
they see the ghost of that person? When they hear the name
mentioned….. do they cringe knowing that they are responsible? When they
look at the one, who they hold most dear to their hearts do they say "God
please don’t punish me by taking my loved one"?
We cannot let Al’s memory die and we cannot let Jennifer Bench’s mysterious
disappearance die either.
All we can do is pray……..and if everyone who visits this website will commit
themselves to a prayer each night…maybe through God.. we can find either
answers or justice for Al and Jennifer.

Citizen Opinion E-Mail for School Yard Bully |
|
1/31/2007
If I may I would like to express my opinion
concerning School Yard Bullying that I have just read .
First of all I have never read anything you
have written on this site that you haven't had proof of what you have said
and even given references to the readers. And you are forever telling
your readers you aren't above sin or haven't made mistakes.
You know Mr. Henslee I was born and raised
in this county and have a lifetime of good memories, and truly can say I
wish the people of this county could be as united and caring for others as
they were when we were all children growing up .Sure, there were some even
back then that were trouble makers and law breakers but the pure honest
hard working people would help to see that our Judicial system worked.
Back then a person's word and a hand shake was a true bond . The entire
family worked from can till can't and you better not sit down at a table
that Mother had set with thoughts of eating before the grace was said. {As
the saying goes, you had better give your Heart to God because your rear
end was gona be Mothers!} No matter how hard the times got we were
never allowed to forget God was in control, and thank God for Mother's
like that.
I remember should someone do something
wrong in a community the men stuck together if it meant them taking turns
staying up at nights, hidden to catch the crook. They didn't try to get
together and make excuses why the person had done wrong, they left the
excuses for the guilty one to make.
So many bad things have happened in our
county as you have mentioned that have never been solved, yet I believe as
a friend stated the other day , they said you know Prayer moves mountains
and if enough Prayer Partners and even Churches would hold special prayer
services for God to bring these people to Justice then the people would
see results , but they said this county is at a point of no return without
turning to God and staying there as our forefathers did.
As I've stated I've been here for awhile
and no I am not without sin no one is, but thank God Mother taught
me how to get forgiveness. There is nothing I can think of that I'd rather
see happen to our county than to have these murders cleaned up and and
those guilty pay for what they did . I am not a murderer but be as it is
I rather face man made justice than burn in a lake of fire in Hell for all
eternity. People seem to forget no matter who we are or what we may be
doing or even thinking God is watching us all and knows exactly what our
thoughts are and as the true saying is you may get past men but there is
no way a person can get past God.
I can't help but wonder , have the people
of our county gotten so involved with self that they let the guilty go
unpunished. Let's all ask for God's help to solve the wrongs in our
county!
Mr. Henslee keep up the good honest work.

Opinion From a Concerned Citizen against School Yard bullying!
1/30/2007 Mr. Henslee,
I have a question for you. Why do you feel it necessary to bully people.
In your writing or your so called editorials you practically threaten
people. You tell the people you write about that you are so above them
and you do not even know them. I know for a fact that you spread vicious
lies about these people and you expect them to just sit there and take it
because you are no more than a school yard bully. You call yourself an
editor a press of the media can not go around reporting stories that only
have one slanted side, they have to make sure the facts are true and
correct or they are held accountable. You believe you are above this
accountability.

I don’t think
there was anyone in Red River County who didn’t like Tebo Peek , Hazel and
Al. I didn’t now their daughter because I moved into the area after she’d
married but I always heard good things about her. They were a wonderful
family and where you saw Tebo…..you saw Al. He always rode shotgun with his
Daddy.
Al was the friendliest little fellow and always had the biggest smile on his
face. He was a good and kind person and because of these traits, you had a
glimpse of the man he would become.
He was one of those rare persons, who never changed. Al was honest, had a
heart as big as Texas, was a hard worker and loved everybody.
I guess that’s why his murder shocked the entire community. Everybody loved
Al.
I believe, one day, we will find out who killed him. The Secret will become
too much of a spiritual burden to take it to the grave. Someone will tell
before they die.
I don’t believe you can just say "I’m sorry Lord" and all is forgiven , I
believe God expects us to do what we can to make it right or as right as we
can before we are truly forgiven.
Please do not print my name when you print this letter for obvious reasons.

Thank You ! Mr. Henslee for your honesty and concern for your fellow man.
You are right about Mr. Alton Peek never a finer human being walk the face
of God's green earth. He was a man like yourself unwilling to compromise
when it came to the truth: and for that he lost his life . However when he
stands before God he will stand as a martyr because he stood for what is
right! The ones who shut him up will have to stand before God too! I know
someone else that thought he could be greater than God and he is in battle
with God as we speak! When you decide to kill someone for your own
personal gain you are playing God! So understand that the murder's
haven't won because it isn't over yet!
If I'm ever a witness to wrong doing in this county or anywhere else I
won't hesitate to report it to the proper authorities! I fear no man , but
I do fear the awesomeness of God who is the author and finisher of my
faith!
Sincerely Joan Audas

All I can say about your editorial is WOW! You
and I are somewhat on the same wave length. You even used some of the same
things that I say. I hate evil done to the helpless, or to anyone else for
that matter. In my church we talk about the principalities of demons and
Satan being master of all the dark principalities. But still, people turn
up in ditches, cistern wells, the river, etc. etc.
I also feel at a loss as to what to do. There
doesn't seem to be anything to be done. You are doing probably the best
thing anyone could do by turning the rocks over and letting the light of
day shine on these cock roaches that infest our society.
God bless you and Gods Speed in your work.

I have just read :Editorial on The Human Race
of your Web Page and you are so right to feel as you do of concerns as to
what has happened to some people of our county.
I was raised up within the same community as
Alton Peek and he was a dedicated person for what was right and he truly
cared for the betterment of our county. Although as sad as it is and has
been for his family to know his murderer may still be walking among us.
God in Heaven knows exactly who did this terrible thing to one of his
children and the Holy Bible says that vengeance belongs to God. And yes
there will be a judgment day when we shall All stand before God to answer
to everything GOOD or Bad that we have done while here on this earth and
can you imagine how freighting it will be for those who perhaps for the
first time realize they will give account to Our Heavenly Father as to
everything we have done and will not be able to make excuses for
their actions of doing these horrible things to other people just because
they felt like it to gain worldly gain ? You know whether people believe
it or not we all have an appointment with the Judgment Day and there is no
way of not keeping it ,The Bible teaches us no word that God says in the
Bible will Return to him Void .He keeps our records that no man can erase
or change In The Book of Life. You know from the Book of GENESIS through
the Book of MALACHI and From the Book of St, Matthew through the 22nd,
chapter of REVELATIONS God's Holy Word teaches us how we are to live and
do while here on this earth as well as it tells us the price we will pay
by every choice in life that we make , and if we don't take the time in
our busy lives to take the Bible down and not only read but study what we
read and ask God to help us understand for his Glory then it is our own
fault if we burn in Hell for our wrong doings. No one but the person that
knows in their hearts they have wronged others can ask Gods forgiveness
that is something each one has to do between them and God , that's why his
Son Jesus our Lord and Savior died on the Cross and if we aren't willing
to listen to our consciences and obey Gods teaching then we can count on
where our souls will spend eternity.
You know as a Mother that has had to give
back a precious son to the lord some years back at the age of 28 , that
left behind a daughter, and two wonderful sons ,and because of a terrible
car crash we were not able to view him at the service and although we went
through the motions as hard as that was. My heart goes out to every family
that their loved one has been taken from them with no way of ever getting
to see them again on this earth. You mention that you had watched
television , as we watch television and all the crimes on the airways and
how people that have committed these horrible actions and throw bodies
here and there whether they leave them whole bodies or cut them up and put
them in containers to sink in the rivers or wherever ? and for what excuse
. Though they may think they will never be caught : do they have a sad
awakening on Judgment day. And they want have earthly friends to help them
make excuses .One thing for sure God don't make deals and he don't sign
Contracts . People need to wake up and put God first and foremost in their
lives and I think it would be so much more better for everyone on the face
of this earth ,for without God in our daily lives we are a nothing merely
in existence. You know an elder gentleman told me one time : to be a good
criminal one has to think like a criminal , well I would never make one
because I stay to focused on trying to do what is right because I want to
make heaven my home. And just think about it, that is where all the jewels
are, can you imagine walking on streets of pure Gold ?
You can print this if you choose to , if
someone somewhere truly reads this and it helps them to understand that
God is in control of everyone's Eternal Soul then perhaps they may have
second thoughts before retiring from this life if they have time , As a
person from experiencing a heart attack we truly aren't promised tomorrow.
May God Truly Bless our Country, County, our Government Local and State
wide and All Our Men and Women that are trying to help keep our Country
Safe.Patsy Guinn

I wanted to write and tell you that I am sorry that you
didn't get a
favorable response from superiors of Ranger Lough. I know firsthand how
frustrating it can be to know that there has been "wrongs" committed, but
yet, no one will help. As I previously have stated, I spoke with Ranger
Lough and I have filled out paperwork with the FBI in Tyler....all to no
avail!
I also do not know anything about the Townsend charges except to ask that
our local authorities please be careful not to label a man without PROOF!
Most know the story of my brother and know that he had bogus charges
"stacked" on him by a multiple-convicted felon (I still don't understand why
he was a "credible witness"), and received 20 YEARS in a RR County courtroom
because the felon said he "knocked on the door, kicked it open, and
threatened to kick my ass"...RR listed that as Burglary of a Habitation. We
went to court that day with plans on going grocery shopping that
afternoon.... we just knew that JUSTICE would prevail because surely they
would not take the word of a multiple-convicted felon. Upon receiving the
20 years on such a charge, my brother took a plea on a Sexual Assault of a
Child charge. He regrets it to this day. It didn't matter that the DNA was
NEGATIVE!!!, it didn't matter that my brother offered to take a lie detector
test, that the "victim"- (who was almost 15) had a known crush on my brother
and had reason to be mad at him because of a statement he made at a party,
it also didn't matter that we had her recorded on tape recanting her
statement....nothing mattered but a conviction....AND IN MY OPINION, it was
because I "pissed" them off by handing out flyers about corruption in RR
County. I know most would say, "Why would he plea out to crime he didn't
commit?" The answer was simply put to me by my brother after he took the
plea....he looked and me and said, "Janice, I got 20 YEARS because someone
said I knocked on their door, kicked it open, and kicked his ass! What do
you think I would get on such a charge with a court-appointed lawyer that I
can't trust? They offered to run it concurrently and told me how I can
later get it off of my record. I had to do what I had to do to come home to
my family the fastest. I can serve it with the 20 years, then get it off my
record after I come home." My brother will come out of prison as a
convicted sex offender....a label that he will carry for the rest of his
life (although one tactic his attorney used to get him to plea was that he
could get out on the 20 years and go to a "psychologist" to prove he wasn't
a S.O., yea right!!!) It is a horrible label and their should be
substantial proof. I had always heard that DNA could prove innocence...but,
it doesn't! I hate the fact that fighting RR county probably made the
situation worse on my brother. He has now served almost 5 years and has
used his incarcerated time wisely. He has not been in any trouble and I
pray that the "Powers that BE" will not try to keep him just because I have
"bucked" the system.
Good luck in fighting the corruption! My prayer will always be that someone
will feel guilty enough to tell the truth. I wish they had to live with the
hurt and pain that I see in my parent's eyes as each year passes by without
my brother. I am a firm believer in the fact that what you wrongfully do to
others will come back on you "ten-fold" and that if you know that a mistake
was made, then you do whatever you have to do to correct it. I had people
approach me saying that they knew my brother was innocent, but they were
afraid to go against RR because of the fear of retaliation...some of those
worked at the Sheriff's office. I just wonder how they sleep at night
knowing that there are people suffering because of their silence! It's
never too late to right a wrong!

Ruby Raye I couldn't agree with you
more. Makes one wonder why a secretary would need to go to jailer school
when she doesn't even work in the jail. Oh and lets not forget the cruise
taken by our "Sheriff", "Head-Jailer", and the "Sheriff's Secretary". -
Not only is there only 1 deputy working such a large county but what about
the jailers. I know for a fact there is times when only 1 jailer has to
answer the phones, dispatch & tend to the female inmates. I would also
like to know why the "Sheriff" can go around town in the county vehicle
carrying his family? I believe the vehicle is for county use, not
personal use.
It's a shame that our good "Sheriff"
can't keep his word and up hold the law. If only we had someone who cared
about the county, his employee's & not just himself.
Please withhold my name due to retaliation

I have a serious question for our Sheriff,
whom I believe was sworn to uphold the law when he took office. Why in a
county of a population of 14,000 plus is there only one officer on duty.
Everyone knows that lives here how large this county is.......... Can you
explain to me why our Sheriff's Department can only afford to have one
officer on duty for this entire county.........
Is it because of all the so called schooling
that Mr. Reed, and his secretary are supposedly going to. Trips here,
trips there, trips everywhere........ but, we can only afford one officer
to protect the citizens of this county...... Even though it is the
citizens of this county that pay his salary.
Oh, maybe the money is going to all those
weeks off work that Mr. Varley takes....... where the people do not have
access to him.... He forgets he is also an elected official.....
Man, I'm sick, of all these fake
people........
Pretending to care about the people when they
really are only fattening their own wallets.....
Everyone sees it......and eventually someone
will do something about it.....Enjoy it while you can guys....You never
know who might really be watching......

December 22, 2006I have known since 2001 that "Texas Ranger
Roger Lough" was corrupt! My
experience with him was shocking to me. You don't expect a man that carries
such an elite title to be so biased. When I contacted Ranger Lough about
files missing, retalitation for free speech, bogus charges, etc...he
"respectfully" listened and then said, "Mam, I have a hard time believing
these accusations that you are making against the RR Sheriff's Dept. and Val
Varley. I know them personally and can not believe that they would be
involved in such!" I then told him that I did not appreciate him listening
to my information, then telling me that. I told him that when I called to
complain, he should of told me that he had a "personal" relationship with
the mentioned parties and redirected me to someone that didn't have a
conflict of interest. Needless to say, the Sheriff's Dept. and Varley knew
very quickly that I had contacted Ranger Lough because a few hours later I
went to Varley's office and he made reference to me about calling the "Texas
Rangers"...I was so mad. I found out very quickly that you can't trust
anyone!
Keep up the fight!

Texas Ranger Roger Lough
December 20, 2006
I know from first hand experience
that if you make statements about the government or law enforcement in this
county that you are denied the business of the county government, and are
subject to harassment and intimidation by some of the officials. They
will not hesitate to tell other people to not use your business, and to try
to make you think that they have a reason to get you into the legal system,
and if you fall into their trap, can possibly trump up charges to get you
into the system. If they will do these things, they would stop at
nothing!
I have now twice received
telephone calls from Texas Ranger Roger Lough using his title and official
capacity in an attempt to intimidate me into removing statements I
made on this website. This time Ranger Lough called me about the statements
made below about the gentleman from Bogota. He used his Official Title
and attempted by his choice of words to make me believe that I had to come
down to the Sheriff's department to talk to him in a room. Ranger
Lough said to me that "You need to come down to the Sheriff's office, and we
will go into a room and talk about this." I as a law abiding
citizen who has never been in trouble with the law, and has no criminal
history see this as an attempt at intimidation, and Official
Oppression which is a Class A Misdemeanor in the Texas Penal Code
§39.03 9(a) 2.
Ranger Lough's tactics did not work, and for his benefit I have now added
the fact in the article below that I have a witness to the mess going on in
Bogata, and have a copy of the tape, if he wishes to push the matter.
Just for the record, Texas Ranger Roger Lough was also using his official
capacity in an attempt to violate my first amendment right to free speech.
Ranger Lough also called me about my
statement about him in the response to Terry Reed's letter. He used
his official Title when he did it then also "This is Texas Ranger Roger
Lough" he said on the telephone call to me. In this instance I changed
the statement I made because I let him intimidate me, but the first
statement was the truth. Ranger Lough did take a statement from Jimmie
Townsend's niece about Steve Peeks drug lab, and because he took that
statement, he does have the ability to verify that he did it, but I let him
intimidate me the first time into changing it. The statement is sealed
in the court records, and all of us know it and I should not have changed
what I said at that time, but I am correcting that mistake here.

that you mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg. I have spoken
with many probationers who have been tested positive for drugs by the
probation department who swear that they were clean at the time.
I have also spoken with some probationers
who's employers required drug testing. These probationers tested positive
by the probation department and a day or two later tested negative by the
employers doctor. How is this possible?
I think it is time that we," the citizens of
Red River County," form a watch dog committee to monitor the actions of
our elected and appointed officials and report to the attorney general and
the voting public by all means possible, web site, news papers, word of
mouth any suspected violations or improprieties.
When it appears that an elected or appointed
official has used his or her office or position for personal gain or
advantage over another we should use every available method to prosecute
and remove that person from office.
It is quite apparent that we can not correct
the problems within our county government in the traditional manor of the
honest and fair election process so it is time to meet them on their own
ground. Instead of using power and position to gain the upper hand
as they have, we will use the constitution and the penal code to prosecute
and remove the criminal element from our county government.
In the short time that I have been back here
in the county I have heard far too many horror stories. It is time that we
the people of Red River County work together to give the citizens of this
county a government that treats all people equal, one that is honest, and
one that is fair, regardless of social, political, or financial status.
Ernest you and I can not do this alone. We do
need your help though to get this started. I will work with anyone as I
know you will, who is willing to take this battle on.
Thank You
Royce Abbott

Oct. 11, 2006 Mr. Henslee, Thank you for this website . I
find it very refreshing to hear "The Rest of The Story". I sincerely believe
you deal with the facts, and facts just simply don't lie. Thank You very
much for your honesty. I use to think Red River County was a very nice place
to raise a family, but over the years I have changed my mind about that . We
have become so Drug Infested that it is no longer the place I came to years
ago. I hope something will be done and soon!

Can I ask you a question? Is there a physical
fitness requirement to work at Red River County Sheriff's Department? Just
thought I might suggest a fitness program for some of the officers. It
really can't be healthy to be overweight. I'm sure that foot chases and
things of that sort occur in your county. Oh, and one more thing sir. What
are the requirements to be an investigator here? I guess you just need
your daddy to tell you its so, then it must be the truth.........well
that's what I read in a court transcript of Tracy Reeves.......
Its a sad day when things of this sort
occur......
Thank you,
Ruby Raye

Seems like Conway should start in kindergarten again, doesn’t it?
If I was him, I’d be ashamed to let people know I was so illiterate, and to
know that he led the county in more ways than sheriff, he was a highway
patrol for years and believe me that’s scary, too. I’m ashamed for anyone to
know that I’m from Red River County and at one time I believed it was the
only place to be. I loved this county because I was born and raised here.
Please withhold my name because of my children and grand-children that have
to live in this county. It seems that everything right done by someone it’s
held against their children and grandchildren.

5/10/2006 11:57 I have noticed a recent entry
concerning the rape of a female Red River County inmate, by a county jailer,
while being transported to the hospital. I also was previously employed with
the Red River County Sheriff's Office, and just happened to be on duty the
night of this incident. It is an embarrassment to me, as I'm sure it is to
many county residents, that something of this nature could happen inside a
county Law Enforcement facility. Although, I do feel that there was an
incident, few people ever knew about, which is equally embarrassing to the
county residents. I do believe the crime this county jailer committed was
wrong, and the punishment he received was well deserved. My concern with
this is, the incident I mentioned previously, was kept very quiet, and was
quickly and discreetly resolved. This being due to the fact that this
employee just happened to be a relative of our chief deputy Larry Spangler.
I'm sure myself, and other county residents would like an explanation as to
why there was no charges filed in this case. I would like to specify a few
things. In this instance, the inmate did not claim to be forcibly
assaulted. There were sexual acts, as well as letters containing sexual
content being passed from this jailer to the inmate. On more than one
occasion these things were witnessed by other inmates, as well as jail
staff. I myself did personally read one of these letters in my opinion this
previous employee was given special treatment do to the fact she was related
to Chief Deputy Spangler. I ask you; is this not a prosecutable offense as
well?????????

5/3/2006 14:40 Okay Red River County Law Enforcement and elected
officials, lets see how it feels when ur dirty laundry is aired
publicly......
Sean Roden......... I was wondering if I could ask you something? What
exactly do you do for Judge Peek? Is it true that he was pulled over and
was found to be intoxicated and you guys just followed him home instead of
arresting him? And is it true that you use steroids?
And is it true that you supply your girlfriend with drugs so that she will
lose weight? I hope not because of her age it would be very sad.
oh, and Larry Spangler,,,, I think anyone in this county could do your
job,,,, I hear the qualifications consist of knowing how to play solitaire
on the computer.... and of course seeing that the machine( as you call it)
runs properly..... Is it true that you are getting paid to allow the drugs
to pass from oklahoma through red river county? Is it true that Brian
Hambrick was telling people this when he thought they would appoint Royce
Abbott instead of Terry Reed?
And Freddy Booker? Mr. Booker, is it true that you have smoked more
marijuana, than Cheech and Chong? And is it true that your father had
methamphetamine charges possession and manufacturing in the past, and
DWI's? Oh Yes, and is it true that when a search warrant is run , that any money
found in the residence is fair game? Does it go directly to Larry Spangler
or do you guys get to split it?
Sheriff Reed, Did your wife ever get insurance on her vehicle....???????
And could you tell us why your not allowed to work back in Commerce Texas?
Was there a female that you were having an affair with there? And really
what about this jail situation....did you let Jason Meredith into the
evidence locker.... and do you let him go around town driving vehicles and
dumping things into creeks like chemicals from meth labs?
Is it true that the Sheriff's department burned down Gary Phillips house,
because he found the county's meth lab...... Oh, Im sorry, I guess I
should ask that question to Jerry Conway.... Is that true Mr. Conway.....?
Is it true that someone has you guys on tape discussing this? I guess you
cant ever tell who you should fire and who you shouldn't.....
And did you guys ever find out what caused Mr. Trimm's home to burn down
after you arrested him?
One more thing. Is it true that Rocky Womack set Tiffany Flowers up with a
fraudulent theft of electricity services? Is it true that Larry Spangler
ordered him to do that? Is it true that one month prior to this happening
Mr. Hambrick told people that you were trying to get rid of
Tiffany......? Is it true that is why she was sent on that Prisoner
transfer?
Well thats all for now, Respond and more will follow...... Name Withheld

Mr.
Henslee,
I
would like to inform the citizens of Red River County that there tax dollars
are being used to build a road around property that Commissioner M. D.
Whittle owns. They have hired a private construction company to build the
road. This road only leads to his personal property. The construction of
this road will give him access to his property on a third side. He already
has access to this property on two sides. I don't recall seeing where they
took bids for the construction of this road. In my opinion this is being
done as a personal vendetta and will only enhance the value of his
property. Just thought the tax payers should know what part of their money
is being spent on.
Thank
you for your time,
Jeff

I
have lived in this county all my life and never took interest in the
politics until I became of age to vote. Now I know how a mushroom must
feel. As a tax payer, I like to see where my (and yours) hard earned
dollars go. I hope you all feel the same way; so I would like to shed some
light on a situation that I happen to have knowledge of.
We all know by now how things are pushed through here in "Stagnant
River" county. Now let me get to the point by sharing something with you
tax payers that you probably do not know. I understand that each precinct
has a budget and no one ever seems to be satisfied with their roadways. I
am a resident of precinct 2 and pay close attention to the lack of interest
our commissioner has for our roadways that have to be traveled daily by
school buses. One roadway in particular is virtually impossible to pass
during wet weather, due to the fact that if a bird flies over and tinkles,
it floods. Our bus must travel this route, not to mention the many
families that live on and commute to and from work in these conditions.
Then we have another road that has maybe two families and is NOT traveled by
a school bus. This is the county road that goes right by the
commissioners house. He has a significant amount of property on this road
and has applied a multitude of gravel (35+ loads). I lost count!
Would this not be to his advantage? How will this effect the value of the
land on this roadway?
If that doesn't get you stirred then check this out. How many
county road right-of-ways are 60 feet wide? I know of one; one where he
was land locked and 'somehow' won a lawsuit taking 60 ft. right-of-way for 2
miles. This is quiet extreme considering 1 mile would have given
him access to his land. At the present time he is building the last
mile of 'his' road. So tax payer, how does it rub you to know that your tax
dollars are benefiting only one, the commissioner of precinct 2? This new
addition will provide him with a road on two sides of his property, again to
his prosperity and at our expense.
I personally invite every tax payer of the county to come and see for
themselves this waste. Not to mention that Judge Peek has already advised
him against these actions. This road is in the middle of a privately
owned ranch and I can't help but wonder what the expense will be to build
and maintain this road; and all for one undeserving individual.
I also happen to know how he obtained the right-of-way. If you are a
member of the GOB's and your wife used to be responsible for jury selection,
who knows what could happen. One of the jurors sells him farm
supplies, another is a life long neighbor within spittin distance of his
residence. A couple of the others got discounts on watermelons for life and
the list goes on. At least 5 were well acquainted with him.
What if this was your land taken by the corruption? Remember it is your
tax dollars funding his escapade. Don't take my word, travel by our
commissioner's house on 'Northwood's road' that connects Bagwell to
Manchester, the 35+ load road, plus new bridge!! Many of you folks
that are familiar with this road will think you're on U.S. 82. Then pull
out your maps and locate CR 2356, it is in front of the old Boulware
store on FM 410 North.
Follow this county road until you reach a 90 degree curve to the left,
instead of turning, go straight through the entrance way.
You are now on a private ranch known as Graff Ranch. I'm sure some of the
employees or the foreman will be glad to show you where you are being
screwed. You can also check out these facts at the court house, no telling
what else you could find. Be careful, you know what happens in "Stagnant
River" county when you dig!
I cannot say the commissioner hasn't been busy, his agenda is quiet
hectic. If you spot him, ask him about your road, our neighbor has to
maintain some roads around here using personal equipment. Ask him what all
went missing (herbicide spray, etc.) after he lost the election....
THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Editorial Response |
4/25/2006 01:04
Mr.
Henslee,
I am writing this to
you in response to the e-mail response from Jimmy Mauldin to Jennifer
Conway-Cooper.
Before I get too far into this I feel that I should tell you a little
about myself. I work a full time job here in Clarksville. I also work as
a Reserve Officer with the Red River County Sheriff's Department.
Although this is a non-paying position, I try to work 2 nights a week,
and help out the Dept. whenever I can. My response is in no way
connected to the Sheriff's Dept. I am off-duty and at home. I am
speaking for no one but myself.
Now getting back to why
I am writing to you.
I am appalled that Mr.
Mauldin can talk about God and quote the Bible in one sentence and
knowingly, falsely accuse people in the other, not to mention the
ridiculous accusations that he claims. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not
saying that Mr. Mauldin has a knack for not telling the truth or
twisting it so that it fits his own liking. However, if the shoe fits,
wear it! (and what is up with all the red-neck fortune cookie
metaphors????)
Now, to clear up a few
things about the traffic stop in question with his daughter. His
daughter was issued a written warning for the traffic infraction. I
explained to her and she was fully aware of why she had been stopped.
Your daughter consented to a voluntary search of her vehicle. I asked
her if she would like to sit in the patrol car while I conducted the
search and she said no, she was okay. The search took no more than 4-6
minutes and the entire traffic stop only lasted about 12 minutes, and as
far as the temperature, well, I didn't have a thermometer on me but I
guess 10 degrees sounds better than 50-55 degrees which is a lot more
likely. I have never at any time told you or anyone that I did not have
probable cause. Your daughter did receive a written warning which backs
up all the above. Many things that you write about Mr. Mauldin are based
on hearsay, half-truths, or are just flat out not true.
As for your remarks
about Mr. Conway, I will say this; I have known him for most of my life
and I have always known him to be a man of impeccable character. The
citizen's of Red River Co. should be proud to have had him serving as
their Sheriff. This man has devoted half of his life to serving the
people of Texas
and Red River Co. in particular. It was an honor to work as his Deputy.
Mr. Mauldin your conduct says everything about your character.
I have been with the
Sheriff's Dept. for almost 3 yrs. During that time I have watched it
grow under the leadership of Mr. Conway and newly Elected Sheriff Reed,
and I believe that it will continue to be a progressive pro-active dept.
in the years to come. Every Deputy in this dept. is devoted to giving
100% to the County and it's Citizens. Most of the Deputies grew up hear
and this is their home. They would like nothing more than to rid the
streets of drugs and crime, and they work hard every day towards that
end. Their is not a Deputy in this dept. that cares what anyone's last
name is. Crime is crime no matter what county your in. The young men and
women at the Sheriff's Dept. are working very hard to make Red River Co.
a safer place to live. The fact that they do it for so little pay
compared to surrounding agencies and counties is a testament to that.
This is their home. THEY CARE!!
Respectfully,
Shane Joplin |

It is a sad day when a citizen
of the United States cannot sign their name to their opinion for fear of
reprisal from the powers that be. Yet, here we are.
After observing this
(s)election closely, several things come to mind. The MOST outstanding is
the fact that it seems that the Democratic Party in Red River County has
been corrupted by the same greed and malfeasance that the national
Republican Party has been tarnished with. The reasons for this are very
clear. In a county that will NOT elect a Republican Sheriff, it becomes
necessary for those that share the same (lack of) values that
the Republicans do, to infiltrate the party of the people and contaminate
the election process in order to attain their goals.
The Republicans stole the
national election in 2000--that is undisputed now, there is questionable
integrity of the Ohio vote in 2004 that is still being investigated, and
here in our own little Red River County--the "culture of corruption"
continues from the Republican wing of the Democratic Party. The same
Rovian methods that plague the country are present here--the smearing
campaign (not unlike the smearing that Rove did to Ann Richards to get
this current idiot elected Governor and then President) was in full force
against Royce Abbott. And it worked. Apparently too many citizens of this
county cared more about voting for their favorite American Idol than
voting for their local government. Something that directly benefits them
EACH AND EVERY day.
It is APPALLING that the people
of Red River County will allow this. Regardless of how it turns out,
there shouldn't have EVER been a recount of this election. This election
called for a re-vote. It was illegal. It did NOT meet the standards of a
fair election. There were disenfranchised voters. Those are
uncounted votes. How do you recount votes that were never allowed to
happen? It is simple that you cannot.
Those are citizens whose basic
Constitutionally guaranteed right-to-vote was taken away from them in
order to skew this election. The Nursing Home ballots that weren't
counted. It is very sad that our Nursing homes have Veterans in them that
fought for this country, yet their vote was denied and the people that
were turned away and told they couldn't vote because they didn't vote in
the Primary. What about the ones who voted in the Republican primary that
crossed over and voted ILLEGALLY? WHY wasn't my voter card stamped on the
initial primary stating that I had voted in the Democratic Primary to keep
this from happening? Was it to facilitate the sham that this election was?
There was an illegal election
judge at one of the polling places. Relatives of the candidate CANNOT work
the polls. Yet it happened right here in RRC. That should have invalidated
the election right then and there.
Where is the Democratic Party
chairperson who allowed this to happen? This was the Democratic
Primary. It is ultimately HER responsibility to ASSURE that each and every
Democratic vote counts and that all of the people who are working the
polls are legitimate.
As a citizen of this county--I
am appalled that this was allowed to happen. It DOESN'T matter who the
winner is in a fair election because if a true majority really wanted to
keep status quo, then so be it. The people have spoken. However in
this case, only SOME citizens were given a voice, while others were muted.
Those that are happy with the way this turned out need to ask themselves
how they are going to feel the next time when it's not their candidate
that wins a sham election.
The bar
for fair elections was just dropped to the ground in this County. There
aren't any more standards. They were thrown out the window.
Congratulations on your "win"
(sarcasm).

I just read what Terry Reed wrote and your
response. I wont call him Sheriff Reed cause he's not much of a Sheriff.
It's hard to believe he hasn't looked into these CRIMES already, all the
participants must be members of the "Good Ole Boy's Club." It seems to me
if you live in RRC and your not in the " Good Ole Boy's Club" you could
get in trouble with the Sheriff's Office and they would take you down to
the station and from there you'd be on the V. V. Express. It's also hard
to believe that the SO would use a C I that they know uses drugs. Why
don't they use the county's drug dog or is he helping the Constable as
bailiff in the JP's court, that is his job right? Not out bulling innocent
people. Mr. Henslee I think your doing a GREAT job here the people of RRC
need to know the truth.

Okay, so what I want to know is how can we help and what can people like
me
do to help things change? I am frustrated because it seems like out of fear
of repercussion, people's hands are tied. My child can't even "tell on"
kids at school for bringing, selling and doing drugs because of the
consequences that he would face and due to the fact of who those kids are, I
know nothing would happen and it would just come back on us...........Well,
I am ready to untie my hands and do something to help end the corruption in
this place. What I have realized is that these "good 'ol boys" are getting
what they want by us keeping our mouths shut and heads turned the other way. So, aside from calling those numbers about the election, what else can we
do? It has to start somewhere, no matter how little or small that start is.
I am personally tired of it and ready to see things change for the better
for EVERYONE around here.
Because of the part in my email about my child and the kids doing drugs
please leave my name out of the email........but after this email, I'll have

Editorial Response to Sheriff Reed's Opinion
|
|
Received 4/16/2006 20:23
Mr. Henslee:
In your response to a citizen’s e-mail on
your site, you made the following statement:
I know for
a fact that Terry Reed watches this site constantly as does every other
person who works in the county government. If you and others like you will
post your ideas, and opinions, little by little they will sink in, and a
change will occur. No matter how small it is, it is worth it. People are not
subject to change rapidly, and a little step at a time is what I have been
seeing since 2003, although the everyday citizen who does not interact with
the C government on a daily basis does not necessarily notice it. I DO! So
please get everyone you know who is tired of the Corruption to post their
opinions. This in and of itself will bring about change. Exposure of
actions brings about change.
You may want to mark this date on your
calendar, but I totally agree with you on this point.
I do monitor the postings on your site often
and I do realize that almost 50% of those who voted in the run-off election
are looking for change to take place within the sheriff’s department. I
realize that there are citizens who are displeased with county law
enforcement due to personal issues or negative contacts with law enforcement
or correction officers, some of which started years ago. I also realize
that I serve at that will of the people and I have the responsibility to
serve in the interest of the people and in my opinion, it would be very
foolish of me, not to take note of that.
As you implied in your response, change
occurs “one little step at a time”. Since I was appointed to office in May
of 2005, I have been taking those little steps to prepare for the larger
ones. I think you will agree with me, that you can not build a house before
you have the foundation or the groundwork in place.
I may not agree with your methods; however:
I firmly believe that we and the other citizens of this county fundamentally
want the same things for the sheriff’s department. A department that’s
professional, progressive, and provides the services that our citizens
deserve. I also believe that community involvement is essential to reaching
these goals, therefore the “opinions and ideas” of our citizens are always
welcome and encouraged.
I wouldn’t classify myself as a “good ‘ole
boy”, rather I am someone who loves Red River County and who wants this to
be safe and secure place for my family and yours. I have often said that I
had rather be a short-term sheriff who made a positive difference than a
long-term sheriff who didn’t accomplish anything. Therein is my commitment,
Mr. Henslee – If I don’t believe that I am making that positive difference
then I will not seek re-election at the end of this 2 year term. My opinion
is if you’re not moving forward then you’re in the way.
I purposely excluded other county
departments from my letter because I am speaking for myself and I have no
control of other departments. Therefore I am only representing my piece of
the (county government) pie. I have read your posting policies and I am
aware that this probably will not be posted, however you now know my
opinion. I ask that if you do post this letter then post all of it.
Respectfully,
Terry Reed
